The Collegium
The Simonyi Karoly Collegium is a student-based professional organisation at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics of the BUTE. The Collegium took the name of Károly Simonyi, the Faculty's admired professor, in 2003. The aim of the Simonyi Károly Collegium is to provide its members and the students of the Faculty with the opportunity to acquire knowledge complementary to their university education. To this end, it organises courses, conferences and other professional events and provides infrastructure to support students' independent professional work. The Collegium aims to publish the results achieved by its members as widely as possible, and to make their work known to other units of Hungarian higher education and to professionals.
Student groups
AC Studio & Live
AC Studio & Live is responsible for the sound and lighting equipment for small to large events held at the Schönherz Dormitory, and manages, operates and maintains the Collegium's event equipment fleet. The circuit's well-equipped recording studio is also suitable for multi-track recording of bands and ensembles, and is also used by student bands and Schönherz Qpa teams.
Budavári Schönherz Stúdió
Most people know Budavári Schönherz Stúdió for its live broadcasts on Thursday evenings and for its videos and coverage of university events. They produce programme and film guides, interviews and document campus parties. The editing and technical work involved is also done by members.
HA5KFU Rádióamatőr Klub
The HA5KFU Rádióamatőr Klub takes its name from its call sign. Formed in 1954, it is the oldest club in the Electricity Faculty and has been involved in shortwave and VHF radio distribution, satellite communications and software radio technologies ever since. And in their workshop on the top floor of the dormitory, they build antennas and circuits for the aforementioned technologies.
Kir-Dev
Kir-Dev was founded in 2001, developing and operating web applications. They develop the Profile and Groups (PéK) site, which now has over 30,000 users. They also develop most of the websites for the students' social life. They mainly work with Ruby on Rails, Node.js, React and Spring Boot frameworks.
LEGO Kör
The LEGO Kör takes its name from LEGO Mindstorms, the robots that based the groups toolkit when it was launched in 2008. Over the years, it has expanded significantly, with developments in artificial intelligence, industrial control, space technology and augmented reality. Our state-of-the-art toolbox allows members and students to realise innovative ideas, or research projects at the university.
Menedzsment Kör
The MGMT coordinates our events and social responsibility activities. Members can also gain experience in marketing, HR and business. Our events are end-of-semester dinners, the Professional Week, the Simonyi Summer Camp and the Simonyi BirthDay Party. Our members can use the knowledge they have gained not only during their university careers, but also in many other areas afterwards.
schdesign
As the creative workshop of the Collegium, the schdesign is responsible for cultivating different digital genres such as image design, logo design, web design, UX design, 3D modelling or print graphics. They do all of this on real projects - one of their biggest projects is the design of the annual Simonyi Conference and the Schönherz Cup’s identity.
Schönherz Elektronikai Műhely
The Schönherz Elektronikai Műhely brings together the Collegium's hands-on electrical and IT professionals. An equipped workshop is available for students to carry out their work: an oscilloscope for electrical development, lab power supplies, soldering equipment and materials for tinkering, and DIY machines. In our well-equipped workshop, your ideas are only limited by your perseverance!
SPOT
SPOT members attend all events organised at the Faculty and document them in the form of photographs. They also do a lot of photography in their studio and several students' CVs include photos taken here. Their archives span many years of the Faculty's student community, and their team is constantly growing in numbers and expertise through in-house training.
